AnnaPurna AnnaDaan

“AnnaPurna” – Indian Goddess who represents food and nutrition, similar to the Greek Goddess Demeter, and “AnnaDaan” – Donation of food

The AnnaPurna AnnaDaan initiative was started in April 2020 with the intention of providing needy families the dignity and assurance of knowing that their next meal was secured. Since April 2020, AnnaPurna has successfully distributed one week’s worth of rice and pulses twice a month to at least 55 families.

Through the years we have noticed that people come together to donate in times of dire need like a hurricane, earthquake etc. However, the need to fight hunger always exists. Our goal is to make this initiative a recurring event so that we can continue to offer our help even in situation that do not qualify as a ‘disaster’ because not having enough to eat is a disaster in itself.

We are all humans first before we get divided by the boundaries of country, state, religion, caste and creed. There are billions of people in this world who struggle to provide a square meal for their families and our help is just a drop in the ocean. For the amount of donations we have, along with the supply chain and logistics, the impact we can make in India is far more than we could here in the USA. Eventually our goal is to help wherever the need is, to the best of our ability.
